The La Canada USD Math Adoption Committee—comprised of 22 educators from all five schools—will focus this year on defining math priorities, conducting a math priority survey in partnership with Hanover Research, piloting two K–5 curricula in the 2026–27 school year and returning a recommendation to the governing board at the close of that school year. The committee recommended retaining the current middle‑grades materials that are rooted in Singapore Math principles while piloting new K–5 options.
Staff said the committee will use survey results to develop a materials‑rubric and winnow candidate curricula. The district plans outreach to parents and caregivers (including site meetings and accessible times near drop‑off/pick‑up) and will conduct faculty pilot votes after classroom trials. Proposed timelines include committee meetings through January and parent engagement events in March, aligning a final recommendation with the 2026–27 academic calendar.
The presentation emphasized transparency, multiple stakeholder touchpoints and time to review student performance data, screeners, progress monitors and intervention tools before any adoption action is taken.
