Board appoints John Papalardo as Placentia‑Yorba Linda Unified School District chief business officer

The Placentia‑Yorba Linda Unified School District board reported out of closed session on Nov. 18 that it appointed John Papalardo as the district’s chief business officer.
President Marilyn Anderson announced the board’s action and said the motion passed 5–0. The formal contract, presented later in the meeting, specifies Papalardo’s term runs from Dec. 15, 2025 through June 30, 2028 and sets an annual salary of $303,115, payable in 12 monthly installments, plus a $350 monthly car allowance and the health and fringe benefits provided to other certificated employees.
Yolanda Mendoza, acting assistant superintendent of human resources, introduced Papalardo’s background. Papalardo listed prior roles including chief business officer in Cambrian School District and Pasadena Unified School District, responsibilities overseeing business services, facilities, maintenance, risk management, nutrition, purchasing, technology, and transportation, and prior experience managing large capital improvement programs and bond measures.
Dr. Kim thanked outgoing staff and welcomed Papalardo; trustees expressed support and the appointment passed with an affirmative vote from the student board member recorded in the roll call.
Next steps: Papalardo’s contract and start date are effective as stated; staff indicated Papalardo will assume CBO duties upon the Dec. 15 start date.
