Gaston County actions: ordinance adopted, Mary Ellen Nelson Center sale approved, several appointments
Summary

Ordinance adoption: On second reading the board approved an ordinance maintaining criminal enforcement of specified county orders. Commissioner Alan Fraley moved the ordinance and Commissioner Bob Hovis seconded; the clerk recorded the vote as unanimous.
Property sale: The board authorized the county manager to sell the Mary Ellen Nelson Center (1904 Dallas Cherryville Highway, parcel ID 170825) to Partners Health Management for $2,600,000. The motion was moved by Commissioner Hovis and seconded by Commissioner Fraley; the clerk recorded the tally as 5‑1.
Tabling: An item pulled from the consent agenda (Item H) was moved by Commissioner Fraley and seconded for postponement to the Dec. 9 meeting for additional details; that motion passed unanimously and the item was tabled.
Appointments: The board reappointed Vivian Ekelberger to the Council on Aging and approved 12 appointees to the Fireman Trust Fund and other board appointments in single motions; most actions were approved unanimously as recorded.
No immediate vote was recorded on staff’s recommendation to discontinue the county cable access channel; the board requested additional analysis and cost/equity options for the next budget cycle.
The board closed its meeting and scheduled the next combined session for Dec. 9, 2025.
