County donates MBX3 vehicle-stopping barriers to Marshfield for event security

Deputy Chief Barriers described the units as designed to stop heavy vehicles at speed by lifting and immobilizing them and said a demonstration unit is staged at the Apparatus Bay for commissioners to inspect. Staff have completed a volunteer training session with Main Street Marshfield and will train with the street department to prepare for set-up, operation and breakdown for large events. The department plans to use the barriers at the holiday parade and coordinate countywide usage and storage logistics with Wood County Emergency Management.
The commission discussed logistics and offered to visit the demonstration. Deputy Chief Barriers said two trailer sets are staged and that staff will schedule additional demonstrations and training as needed. The donation and shared county access aim to allow multiple jurisdictions to request the units for events.
