Council honors K9 Griff and transfers ownership to officer

Police Chief Scott Engel presented Griff’s service record: Griff and Cam certified as a tracking team in January 2021, 378 deployments and 79 captures with 10 incidents resulting in a bite to the offender. Officer Cam Olinger thanked his family and said he was pleased Griff will join Officer Schlauterbeck’s family. Councilmember moved and a voice vote approved the resolution to declare Griff surplus and transfer ownership.
Chief Engel and council members thanked the handlers and families for their service to the department and wider law enforcement partners in Pierce County.
