Lebanon board approves October claims, change orders and $55,250 roofing design fee

The Lebanon Community School Corporation board on Tuesday approved $3,704,297.50 in claims for October, signed off on construction change orders and authorized design work for multiple roofing projects.
At the meeting, Mr. Dennis presented the financial summary and asked the board to approve payroll claims for Oct. 17 and Oct. 31 totaling $2,339,737.73 and additional period claims of $1,364,559.77. "Ask the board to approve claims for 2 October payrolls," he said, after walking directors through the packet figures.
Dennis also outlined construction closeouts and change orders, calling this month "fairly benign" compared with prior months while noting a notable $78,000 change order for JBM, of which roughly $50,000 covers a new sidewalk at the middle-school main drive to separate pedestrians from vehicle traffic. Dennis said the sidewalk was added because students continued to walk up the drive despite the original design intent. "Providing a sidewalk there for them was essential for their safety," he said.
On roofing, Dennis identified Etika as the district's designer of record and said the contract before the board covers design and construction administration. He flagged the fee in the packet, noting, "what you're actually approving tonight is the fee of 55,250 for the fee for design and construction administration."
Board members approved the claims, the change orders and the Etika fee by voice vote; no roll-call tallies were recorded in the transcript.
What’s next: staff will proceed with the listed roofing design work and continue closeout activity on the recently completed elementary projects. The board did not set additional public hearings on the change orders at the meeting.
