The Kane County Public Health Committee voted on Nov. 19 to accept a $10,000 trust donation earmarked for improvements at the county animal control facility.
Presenter (identified in the meeting as Mr. Youngstead) described plans to use the donation for a covered outdoor area to protect animals from sun and weather, native-plant landscaping in partnership with Energy and Environment, benches, a water spout and a dog-weighing station. "For the second year in a row, we've been blessed to receive a $10,000 trust donation," the presenter said, describing plans for spring installation and vendor discussions.
Board members asked technical questions about the fountain and public-safety concerns; staff said the fountain is a slow-fill design that drains so it does not hold standing water, that staff clean it regularly and that existing external cameras will monitor the area.
Penisis moved to accept the resolution (temporary file number 25-1415) and Juby seconded. A roll-call read by the clerk recorded votes in favor from Arroyo, Dubey, Penisis, Tarver, Young and Straffman; the chair noted the item will proceed to the finance committee.
The motion recorded on the public record will be included in the finance committee packet for any required appropriation or contractual approvals.
