Arts commission: Indigenous sculpture installed; staff coordinates signage, video release and sidewalk stamps

At its Nov. 17 meeting the Moorhead Arts and Culture Commission received updates that an Indigenous sculpture installation is complete, staff is arranging signage and translation, a companion video episode is under review by Prairie Public Broadcasting, and sidewalk-stamp installations and maps are being finalized.
Unidentified Speaker 1, speaking on staff updates, said the Indigenous sculpture installation is complete and that city staff is coordinating plantings recommended by the artist, signage and the inclusion of the work on the Moorhead Sculpture Walk. "Installation of the sculpture [is] complete," the staff member said, and staff is pursuing translation of the artist project statement into the artist's native language to include on signage.
Unidentified Speaker 1 also reported that the first episode of an Indigenous sculpture historical video series is finished. Staff provided the video to Morehead Community Access Media, which in turn shared it with Prairie Public Broadcasting for potential network release; staff and project partners are coordinating marketing and a release plan so the series will reach the community.
On pedestrian public art, Unidentified Speaker 1 said city staff is working with Sign Badger to manufacture missing sidewalk stamps — both replacements from existing inventory and new stamps approved by city council — and with OP construction to install stamps on new sidewalk segments in the underpass project area. Two maps in the meeting packet show current and planned installation locations; staff noted most stamps have been installed but a few gaps remain where paving is pending.
The commission did not take formal action on these items but asked staff to continue coordination and to bring a draft RFP for related banner art (see separate discussion on funding and banners). The meeting packet and staff remarks indicated documentation (maps and video files) will be used in upcoming marketing and release planning.
