Councilmember Dole moved and the council unanimously approved a Wayne County Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) agreement of $304,509.23 to complete ADA upgrades at the Radcliffe Community Center, including widening doors, adding ADA stalls, new fixtures, flooring and lighting. Staff apologized for the late agenda placement and said the county added the item recently, and they described the work as finishing the third and fourth sets of restrooms and converting underused spaces into family-style ADA restrooms where appropriate.
Staff stated the project timeline is compressed: the city must secure a contractor, finalize plans, return to council for a bid award and complete the work before the county’s reimbursement deadline of June 30. Council and staff noted that the award requires no matching funds from the city.
The council voted 6–0 to accept the grant and authorized staff to proceed with the next steps of planning and procurement; staff will return to council before beginning construction work.
