White House council approves Forestdale Park concept plan for donated 4.2‑acre parcel

City planner Mr. Martinez told the council the Forestdale Park concept plan and cost estimate cover a 4.2‑acre parcel donated by the Forest Hill subdivision developer and were shaped by resident input. "This 4.2 acre tract was donated by the Forest Hill subdivision developer and is intended to serve as a neighborhood park for nearby residents," Martinez said.
The proposed layout includes a small playground, walking trails, open play areas and a basketball/multi‑use sport court. Martinez said funding for design and the concept stage was approved in the FY25–26 budget and that the next step is preparing construction documents and bid materials; he estimated a construction start in spring or summer 2026, subject to bid results.
Council members asked about parking, efforts to preserve existing trees on the site and how the park will serve nearby neighborhoods. Staff said there is limited existing parking on the parcel and emphasized the plan was intended for local neighborhood access.
Mayor moved to approve the concept plan and authorize staff to proceed with the improvements; the motion was seconded and passed by voice vote with no recorded opposition. Staff will return with construction documents and bids for council approval before construction begins.
