Public Works presented the McLennan (Lake & Spruce) bridge repairs project—scope includes deck and railing replacement, spot steel repairs, slope stabilization and ravine restoration—and recommended awarding the construction contract to low bidder Dunnet Bay Construction for $1,976,924 with a contingency of $198,076 (total project cost $2,175,000). The council also approved structural engineering construction-assistance services with Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates for $74,431 plus contingency $5,575 (total $80,000). The council approved both by roll-call vote (8–0).
The project is scheduled to begin in late March with completion anticipated in mid-September; the work will require full road closures for the duration, and staff will hold an open house to discuss both bridge projects on Dec. 4 at Gordon Center.
