JASPER, Ala. — The Jasper City Council on Nov. 18 approved a slate of routine business, including event permits, two liquor licenses and the purchase of vehicles for the fire department, and authorized staff to seek bids for the city’s mountain‑bike trail project.
Mayor Josh Gates read a proclamation recognizing Alabama Farm City Week before the council moved into legislative and administrative business. City events coordinator Kelly Barnes told the council that staff and departments had approved requests for a dance performance Dec. 2 (prior to the Christmas parade) and a Tallulah half‑marathon/5K/1‑mile run on March 14, 2026, that would require a temporary closure of 19th Street.
