Campton Hills explores Village Hall generator options; no decision made

Village staff and Chief Levan briefed trustees on options for a Village Hall generator and said more research is required before the board commits to a purchase.
An early budgetary estimate given to staff was about $100,000 for a full exterior installation, and staff said KDOT offered a discounted unit; however a roof-mounted solution would require significant structural reinforcement and would be costly, while a side-mounted installation could interfere with the sidewalk and generate noise complaints during routine testing. A smaller generator located in the village building’s basement is an option staff is exploring — it may reduce enclosure/visual impacts but raises code questions about ventilation and exhaust.
Chief Levan said he and two trustees have developed options and solicited quotes; the board agreed staff should continue to study configurations and costs to arrive at the most cost-effective and least intrusive solution.
Next step: staff to check building-code and ventilation requirements for a basement unit, obtain final price quotes and return with a recommendation.
