He addressed resident concerns about a visible federal law-enforcement presence in town and said that operation was conducted by the U.S. Marshals Service to serve a federal search warrant related to threats; it was not an ICE immigration enforcement action. Levan said the marshals carried out the warrant respectfully and that the department posted a clarifying message on its Facebook page.
Levan also announced an upgrade to the village phone system to improve dispatching and reduce delays when residents leave messages on the old answering machine number. He reminded residents about the village winter-parking rules and asked motorists to be alert for deer as collisions rise in the fall.
The board had follow-up questions about which phone number to call for non-emergencies; Levan agreed to post clearer guidance to the village Facebook page and other communications channels.
