The committee approved a $325,000 appropriation from the stormwater operating reserve to develop a comprehensive stormwater infrastructure analysis and plan for the Cheesecake Brook sub-basin.

Commissioner Sullivan said Cheesecake Brook is one of the city’s most flood-prone areas and that updated 1D/2D hydrologic models, climate projections and field verification are needed to identify prioritized mitigation options. "This work will begin shortly after its award and will be concluded by 12/31/2026," she said.

Councilors stressed that the study will inform future capital priorities and help the city identify effective solutions to reduce flood risk along Border Street and other affected locations. Councilor Danberg moved approval and the committee voted in favor.
