Sweet Home board previews capital project vote, presents buildings-and-grounds director candidate

The Sweet Home Central School District board was reminded that voters will decide a district capital project on Dec. 16, 2025, and administrators encouraged community attendance at two informational sessions planned for Nov. 24 (6:30 p.m., high school auditorium) and Dec. 10 (6:30 p.m., middle school auditorium).

"We would love to get as many people out to our auditoriums," Dr. Genestri said, noting that the district posted slides and a presentation link and intends to present a project video and a question-and-answer period at the town halls.

At the same meeting, the superintendent presented Emily Mrowczyk as the recommended director of buildings and grounds following a multi-stage search. Dr. Genestri said the committee "unanimous[ly]" selected Mrowczyk, praising her custodial and capital-project experience. Board members said they were pleased and noted there will be a crossover training period with the outgoing director before she takes over.

Officials discussed the capital project in the same context: Dr. Genestri described the undertaking as a roughly $90 million capital project that will make facilities and safety work central to the new director's responsibilities. One board member referenced a $90,500,000 figure during remarks; the district presented the project materials to the public for further detail.

The board did not take a final vote on hiring at this meeting; the candidate was presented for board consideration and the district indicated the hiring will include training and transition steps. Town-hall dates and the Dec. 16 vote remain the nearest public actions the district urged residents to note.
