The Planning Commission received several committee and staff updates at the conclusion of the public hearings.
An infrastructure committee member reported that staff and consultants are evaluating GPS software with capabilities to support traffic studies and road-repair planning using Internet-of-Things GPS data; the software may reduce costs for public-works traffic analysis. Economic development reported openings of a Ross and a Wendy’s and discussed downtown revitalization plans without firm decisions.
Mr. Reid (staff) said the municipal pool will be on the city council agenda the following evening for a decision and that drainage improvements are continuing after recent rains produced no standing water on French and China Lake Boulevard. Planning staff Heather said there will be no December meeting because of the holidays and that general plan amendments and a military area of influence item will be brought in January; a consultant has been hired for a housing study focused on the military workforce and a GIS zoning map is expected before the next meeting.
Commissioners had no additional formal actions on these updates; the meeting adjourned at 5:19 p.m.
