PGUSD Board reports 5-0 vote to accept classified employee resignation after closed session

The Pacific Grove Unified School District Board of Education on Nov. 18 reported a unanimous vote to accept the resignation of a classified employee, the board said after returning from closed session.

An unidentified speaker opened the special meeting at 5:30 p.m. with a land acknowledgment stating the board met on the traditional lands of the Ohlone, Kostenouan and Esselen peoples and paid respect to elders past and present.

Dr. Adamson called the roll; President Hazen, Joe McNeely, Trustee Otman, Trustee Shemaan and Trustee Wax were recorded as present. Trustee Wax moved to adopt the agenda "as written," and Trustee Otman seconded. The board voted 5-0 to adopt the agenda.

The board then adjourned to closed session at about 5:31 p.m. to discuss "public employee discipline dismissal release leave complaint, Government Code 54957," the transcript shows. No public comments were offered on closed-session topics.

Upon returning from closed session and reporting out, the board stated it took no action on items a or b. For item c, the board said information was received and "the board voted five-zero to approve classified employee 161,956 resignation." The transcript does not provide a name or further identifying details for the employee; the board did not specify whether the numeric sequence "161,956" is an employee identifier or another reference.

The board noted the next special meeting is scheduled in two days and adjourned the Nov. 18 meeting at 6:02 p.m.

The board cited Government Code 54957 in connection with the closed session; that statute governs certain personnel matters and the limited circumstances under which they may be discussed in closed session.
