Council adopts addressing and road-naming manual; appoints housing and conservation board representatives

Michelle (staff) presented a site addressing and road naming policies and procedures manual intended to replace reliance on the Flathead County plan and to provide consistent addressing, signage and naming coordination with county GIS and the U.S. Postal Service. The manual delegates routine numbering and limited parking and signage coordination to staff but reserves formal renaming of roads for council action. Council moved to adopt Resolution 25-37 and approved it unanimously.
In other business, the council considered appointments and reappointments: Frank moved to appoint Thomas (Tom) Shea as a resident representative to the Whitefish Housing Authority for a two-year term; the motion was seconded and carried unanimously. The council also moved to reappoint Mike Kapitsky and Mary Ellen McCarthy to urban supervisor positions on the Flathead Conservation District board; that motion carried unanimously.
Council and staff also discussed scheduling for committee interviews, possible special sessions for growth policy work, and a brief calendar of upcoming presentations including a Habitat for Humanity presentation at the next meeting.
Next steps: staff will post the addressing manual and process renaming requests through the public hearing process; appointed members will be notified and terms recorded.
