Lodi Unified to host first CTE showcase Nov. 5; student representatives report school activities

Lodi Unified School District announced its inaugural Career Technical Education (CTE) showcase will be held Nov. 5, 2025, at the Lodi Grape Festival, district staff said during the Oct. 21 board meeting. The daytime event is planned for eighth-grade students from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with a parents-and-community session from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
The district said about 85 high-school students will staff roughly 28 interactive booths covering pathways such as computer repair, video-game design, fire science and construction. The goal is to expose eighth graders to CTE pathways and connect them with counselors and programs ahead of high-school placement, district presenters said. A short promotional video was shown at the meeting to illustrate the event format and outreach.
In related agenda presentations, student representatives from several high schools gave brief reports. Layla Shelton, ASB president at Bear Creek, highlighted recent FFA competition wins, the opening of a wellness center, AVID program grants and upcoming performances and events. Tokay student Josiah Garcia reported on expanded student engagement, mental-health programming and athletic achievements; Middle College representative Nadkaran Sandhu summarized college-enrollment steps, student-government activity and upcoming events.
Board members and the superintendent praised the student reports and encouraged board and community attendance at the CTE showcase. The district asked that community members attend the evening session and recommended schools plan school-link assignments prior to the visit so eighth graders can match pathways to their interests.
The board did not take formal action on the showcase announcement; it was presented as a spotlight item and informational update.
