Twin Rivers recognizes 59 students for on-the-spot UCAN HBCU acceptances and scholarships

District staff recognized students who met college representatives at the UCAN Historically Black College recruitment fair and received immediate admissions offers and scholarships.
Megan Simmons introduced the recognition and noted the event was held Sept. 18 in partnership with United College Action Network (UCAN). "Many walked away that very day with on the spot college admissions and scholarships, opening doors to their futures," Simmons said, and invited Carling Bittler, director of college and career readiness, to call and acknowledge the 59 scholars by name.
Trustees and staff asked the scholars to come to the front for a group photograph to celebrate their acceptances. The recognition highlighted college-access work and partnerships intended to broaden students' postsecondary options.
