Twin Rivers board approves multiple student expulsion and readmission motions

The Twin Rivers Unified Board of Trustees approved several student discipline items during the meeting, including expulsion cases, an extension of an expulsion and a readmission request.

For each case the clerk read the case number and the board took a motion and a second before conducting roll-call votes. Motion text was recorded on the agenda and the meeting transcript shows motions moved by Trustee Baker and/or Trustee Sandoval and seconded by Trustee Sandoval or Trustee Baker (depending on the item). After roll-call the chair announced that “the motion carries.” Trustee Alcarra was repeatedly recorded as absent for these items.

The board did not discuss the specifics of the underlying incidents in public during the roll-call items beyond the case numbers as read into the record; standard practice and statutory confidentiality around student discipline were observed in the open meeting materials.
