Adams County accepts bid submissions, approves utility permits and project updates

The Adams County highway department opened bids for a small road project and reported progress on several local projects, while the board approved multiple utility permits.
Nate read bids for Bridal 15 (Blue Creek on County Road 000 north of County Road 300 S), noting three submissions from PNB Paving, Milestone Contractors LP and Judy Excavating; he said he would assemble a bid tab, notify the apparent low bidder and bring a recommendation to the next meeting. A base bid from GE Excavating of $137,307.05 was recorded during the opening.
Nate also reported that the federal application for Bridal 96 has been submitted and that Milestone has started construction on Bridge 73 (Salem Road), where crews discovered additional delaminated areas increasing the scope but remaining within budget; staff said they hope to pour concrete and reopen before Thanksgiving if weather permits.
Commissioners approved three separate permits: Indiana Michigan Power replacing two poles on County Road 150 W; NIPSCO installing a gas main on County Road 700 S to service a new subdivision; and Jay County REMC relocating poles and power lines on County Road 500 S to the back of a widened right‑of‑way. Each permit was approved by motion and recorded as passed.
Nate said he will finalize bid tabs and return with an award recommendation at the next meeting.
