Representatives of El Segundo Youth Drama presented to the Recreation and Parks Commission, noting the program has been part of El Segundo for more than 40 years and that the current production, We Will Rock You, features performers ages 11–18. Staff said shows are scheduled for Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m., and that performances were sold out as of the meeting; the group offered reserved tickets for commissioners.

During the employee spotlight the commission recognized Library Assistant Mary (listed in the presentation packet as Maria) Martz for her service since 2018. Staff described Martz’s work in teen and adult services, her monthly craft-and-chat programs, and a quarterly book-tasting program held off-site. Martz thanked supervisors and coworkers and said she feels “blessed to have really supported and encouraging supervisors.”

Those remarks were given early in the meeting as part of non-action agenda items; no formal decisions were taken regarding the youth drama presentation or the employee recognition.
