Commissioners certify Phillipsburg municipal canvass after hand tally

Granite County election staff presented the Phillipsburg municipal election canvass at the Nov. 18 meeting and commissioners certified the hand-count totals.
Sarah Graham, Clerk and Recorder and Election Administrator, said precinct 1 accepted 185 ballots and precinct 2 accepted 127 ballots, for a total of 312 accepted ballots. Commissioners reviewed the hand-count tally sheets, discussed precinct subtotals and undervotes, and signed the canvass documents.
A motion to repeat the canvas and accept the town of Phillipsburg municipal general election results was made, seconded and carried by voice vote. The board asked staff to attach the tally sheets and seal the canvass as required by county election procedure; Graham confirmed the paperwork and seals would be attached to the election records.
The certification concluded with the board directing staff to keep the hand-count documentation in the official file and to return any supplementary paperwork if necessary. No contest or formal challenges were raised in the meeting record.
