Falk North America proposes 82,500 sq ft expansion in Walker View Industrial Park; commission hears IFEC and district application

Falk North America representatives described plans for an 82,500-square-foot production facility at 1920 Northridge Drive Northwest in the Walker View Industrial Park. City staff explained the consolidated hearings cover both establishment of an industrial development district and the company's application for an Industrial Facilities Exemption Certificate for an estimated $8.9 million investment.

City staff said phase 1 of the project is expected to create 14 new jobs with hourly wages in the $21'$55 range. Company president Beau (introduced at the hearing) said the plant will scale beyond phase 1 and could employ roughly 50 people at full build-out. He described the new product line as a fire-rated insulated metal panel and said the product addresses evolving building-code needs. "This is gonna be a fire rated panel. So that helps us to slow down the fires that are going to happen in buildings, and it gives our firefighters a little bit more time to get there," Beau said.

Beau also said machinery is on order, the general contractor supports the project, and the architect selected is a minority-owned firm. The city closed the hearings and referred both the industrial district and IFEC application to the Committee of the Whole for further review; no exemption or tax decision was made that night.

Next steps: Committee of the Whole review; staff to return with findings for the commission to act on any tax incentives or exemptions.
