Park City student honored for hundreds of volunteer hours

Kim McGuire of the McGuire Family Foundation told trustees Abigail completed over 468 hours of community service during high school, including more than 260 hours in her senior year. McGuire said the foundation has donated $1,000 to the nonprofit of the recipient's choice for several years as part of the award.
Abigail described humanitarian service trips to Thailand and Uganda with medical volunteer organizations and said the work gave her perspective and motivation to continue community service. Park City Education Foundation representatives and district staff joined the recognition and presented a graduation cord to Abigail during the meeting.
The board did not take formal action on the recognition; it was presented as part of the meeting's opening items.
