The Pembroke School Committee received a negotiation subcommittee update on Nov. 18 saying talks with the Pembroke Teachers Association are ongoing; the subcommittee said it had met multiple times and expected further bargaining that week to aim for closure before year-end.
Following that update, the chair moved that the committee enter executive session under Chapter 30A, Section 21(a)(3) to discuss strategy related to collective bargaining because open meeting discussion could be detrimental to the committee—s legal position. A motion was made and seconded; members answered yes in a roll-call and the committee recessed into executive session.
The public session agenda materials note that bargaining covered successor agreements for four collective bargaining units and that the district and union planned another session later that week.
Next steps: the committee will meet in executive session to continue bargaining strategy discussions; the chair said members would reconvene as required after the closed session.
