County honors EMS peer Chris and names Helen Yates and John Sanchez as super service award recipients

Staff and coworkers recognized several employees and community volunteers during the meeting. Early in the meeting, coworkers Zach Wise and Jaden Tontz nominated Chris for recognition, praising his devotion to the crew, morale-boosting, and frequent availability to assist on calls; coworkers also noted Chris and Dave Varner are attending paramedic school at their own expense to improve county emergency care.
"He has filled a need that most didn't know we needed to be filled," one coworker said of Chris. Chris accepted the recognition and thanked colleagues.
Later, Shelley Wright read a nomination and presented the November Super Service Award on behalf of Tina Grange to Helen Yates and her son John Sanchez. Wright said the project the pair started in 2014 now provides backpacks and essentials to "200 plus children" each year and has outgrown its original space, moving to the Carbon County Rec Center to accommodate donations.
Commissioners acknowledged the award nominations and encouraged staff to deliver certificates to the recipients when possible.
