After discussion about how the updated rates compare with private contractors and township needs, the board voted to adopt the resolution by voice vote. Commissioners noted the county tends to use operator-plus rates to keep county operators employed on local projects rather than contracting out all work.
The highway department also requested surplus declaration for two items—a 2002 International semi and a 600-gallon oil distributor—replaced earlier this year; staff recommended selling via Purple Wave. Commissioners asked about auction fees and were told the buyer pays the commission; the county provides photos and advertising and does not pay the auction fee. The motion to surplus the equipment passed by voice vote.
The updated rental rates and surplus authorization were approved at the meeting; staff will publish updated rate tables and proceed with the Purple Wave listing for the surplus items.
