At its Nov. 18 organizational meeting, the Walled Lake City Council approved multiple resolutions ratifying the Nov. 4, 2025 election results and formally recognized newly elected officials.
Council passed Resolution 2025-31, ratifying the mayoral result and accepting Richard Gunther as mayor; subsequent resolutions (2025-32, 2025-33, and related motions) ratified the election results for council members, including Dennis O'Rourke. Each resolution was moved and seconded and then approved by roll call. The clerk read names during the votes and the motions were announced as carried.
Following procedural items, the clerk administered oaths to incoming council members. The council also nominated and approved Dennis O'Rourke as mayor pro tem after a nomination and roll-call vote.
Council members thanked outgoing members for their service before the new council took their seats. The meeting record shows several expressions of gratitude and mutual support between outgoing and incoming members; no formal policy changes were enacted during the swearing-in process.
