Cuyahoga Falls High School staff presented proposed updates to the high‑school program of studies at the Nov. 19 board meeting, including new course offerings and several name/grade‑level adjustments.

Presenter materials described three primary additions: a 4‑credit College Credit Plus (CCP) introductory statistics course to be taught by Michelle Wright (a current math teacher certified as an adjunct at Kent State University); an "Introduction to Computer Technology" course designed to be part of a career‑tech (CTE) pathway; and a focused painting course to complement the exploration‑level art offerings.

Staff said the CCP statistics class would be offered in addition to existing AP Statistics if sufficient student interest materializes. They also proposed adding AP Music Theory to earlier grades to encourage broader enrollment and changing the state‑named course "Mathematical Modeling and Reasoning" to the new state label "Advanced Quantitative Reasoning." Presenters emphasized the changes included mostly name or level shifts in several subject areas and that some potential additions were deferred until the district completes moves to a new building.

Boardmembers asked targeted questions about AP enrollment, testing implications and whether name changes would affect graduation pathways. One trustee suggested removing a specific item from the printed materials (a portrait reference) given a pending update to district branding. Staff said they would confirm small editorial corrections and return a final proposal for board action.

No board vote on the program‑of‑studies changes was recorded at the Nov. 19 meeting; the item was presented for review and staff follow‑up.
