The Community High School District 155 board authorized staff to begin an application to the Illinois State Board of Education School Maintenance Project Grant (SMPG) FY2026 round 1 to support a window replacement project at Crystal Lake Central.
Troy Stinger, the district’s director of operations, said the SMPG is a dollar‑for‑dollar matching grant program that provides awards up to $50,000 for maintenance of educational buildings. With board approval the district will formally begin the SMPG application process and, if awarded, apply the grant toward the planned window work at Crystal Lake Central as part of the district’s 2026 capital improvements plan.
The board approved the motion by roll call. The motion authorizes staff to proceed with the grant application; any award will require the district to provide matching funds and comply with ISBE requirements.
