Unidentified Speaker 2 introduced the item, saying the band is pursuing grant money to “make it more of a truck type stop and add full service showers, bath and more bathrooms” and that the tribe has drafted a letter for the county to sign. Unidentified Speaker 3 moved to approve the letter and exploration of development; Unidentified Speaker 1 seconded the motion. The board voted in favor and staff were asked to place the county letterhead on the document and collect signatures.
Commissioners noted the tribe is seeking grant funds only at this stage and has not yet started permitting or construction activities. Several commissioners and staff emphasized the letter would support the tribe’s grant application and not authorize any county land-use approvals; any required planning or conditional-use reviews would proceed separately if and when development proposals are submitted.
The motion passed with approval on the record; staff were directed to return a signed letter to the tribe.
