Board elects Bridgette Ziegler chair, Robin Marinelli vice chair in reorganization
Summary
During its required reorganization, the Sarasota County School Board elected Bridgette Ziegler chair by acclamation and Robin Marinelli vice chair by ballot (3–2).
Under procedures read by Superintendent Terry Connor, the board held its annual reorganization on Nov. 18. Ms. Bridgette Ziegler was nominated for chair by Ms. Rose and, as the lone nominee, was elected by acclamation.
Nomination for vice chair produced multiple candidates. Board members cast ballots; the tally read aloud recorded three votes for Robin Marinelli and two for Tom Edwards. Marinelli was declared vice chair. The board then recessed briefly and reconvened to continue the regular meeting.
The reorganization followed the district’s stated process for nominations and public recording of ballots; the transcript includes each member’s recorded ballot in the proceeding.
The board then proceeded with other regular business including calendar approval and policy adoption.
