The San Luis City Council used part of its meeting to issue community proclamations and recognitions.
Council declared December 5, 2025, as Día del Campesino in San Luis; a representative from Campesinos Sin Fronteras described planned services for farmworkers including glucose, blood-pressure and cholesterol screenings, ear exams, vaccines and education and invited the community to the event.
Armando Esparza, director of Economic Development, announced that the city received the Arizona Association for Economic Development Golden Prospector Award for its Fuerza Local business-accelerator program in partnership with Local First Arizona, and invited program graduates and participants forward for photographs.
The Employee Recognition and Awards Program (ERAP) vice chair (who identified herself as Bridal Ochoa) presented third-quarter awards, naming Alan Guevara (Achievement Award) and the Human Resources Department (Award of Excellence). The council also honored long-time Parks and Recreation volunteer Damian Oriega; former parks and recreation director Chris Cassid offered remarks about Oriega’s decades of service to youth sports and cultural programs.
These items were presented for recognition and required no council action.
