The San Luis City Council approved contracting Westmore Electric Inc. for the installation of a new decorative traffic signal at the intersection of B Street and Main Street and authorized the purchase of signal materials.
Manuel Hernandez, assistant director of Public Works, said design is complete and plans match the decorative style used on Cesar Chavez Boulevard; staff has procured a meter pedestal and expects materials to arrive in March. Hernandez said much of the concrete work will be performed in-house to reduce costs and that the department plans to keep the project within a budgeted amount of about $600,000.
Vice Mayor moved to accept construction services from Westmore Electric Inc. in the amount of $218,350, to waive formal bidding for the reasons presented, and to approve purchase of materials from Clark Transportation Solutions for $96,939.71 using a Maricopa County cooperative contract. The motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
Next steps: staff will schedule concrete work in February and oversee contractor installation under a 90-day contract window once materials arrive.
