Public comment and district response During the public‑comment period Yoel Reyes raised concerns about teacher retention, citing a 2023 retention‑committee figure that “42 percent of Martin County teachers left over a span of 4 years” and several local incidents that he said contributed to attrition. He asked whether the committee continues to track departures and what the district is doing to support teachers.
Superintendent Main responded that district HR provides monthly updates and that the district tracks retention data. He said, “our retention rate here in the Martin County School District is 86%,” noting it has increased one to two percentage points over recent years, and invited the commenter to meet with HR executive director Jeff Raymond for deeper review of the data and follow‑up.
The board adjourned after closing items and board member comments.
