Because of funding requirements, volunteers will verify residency for recipients: a driver's license and a water or utility bill can establish proof of Baker residence. Organizers said the program will provide one food box per car and reiterated that volunteers will distribute remaining toys and bikes on a first'come, first'served basis.
For the bike giveaway, organizers said registration will be required for bike recipients and recipients must show Baker residency to receive bikes. Volunteers from local churches will staff the event; the council said it hopes to secure up to 100 bikes and additional smaller bikes for young children.
Officials emphasized that distribution ends when supplies are exhausted and asked residents to plan accordingly. The city noted the food box giveaway is funded under rules that require residency verification and therefore the one'box'per'car limitation.
