Saint Lucie schools honor dozens of students, staff at Nov. 18 meeting

The Saint Lucie County School Board paused its business agenda on Nov. 18 to recognize student and staff achievements across the district.
Lydia Martin, the district’s communications chief, invited board members to the dais and announced approximately 60 K–8 students who earned perfect scores on last year’s end‑of‑year assessments. "These students not only reached level 5, the highest level, but they answered every single question correctly," Martin said as names were read and students assembled on the risers.
Esther Rivera, director of student services, presented Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) recognitions at bronze, silver and gold levels to schools including Fairlawn Elementary, Palm Point K‑8, Port St. Lucie High School and Morningside Elementary School. The board also highlighted district partnerships: Kevin Perry described the Art in the Capitol competition and recognized a Palm Point student whose artwork will be displayed at the state capitol.
The board honored several employees with "star" recognitions, naming a social worker, bus driver and other staff cited for going "above and beyond" in student support and operations. Materials and photographs from recognitions were noted as available on the district’s Facebook page.
The recognitions occupied a significant portion of the meeting but did not require board action.
