Saint Lucie board adopts athletics NIL and employment policy amendments; consent agenda approved

At its Nov. 18 meeting the Saint Lucie County School Board approved a package of policy changes and the consent agenda.
Superintendent John Prince recommended adoption of proposed policy 2431.06, "name, image, and likeness in athletics," and proposed amendments to several employment policies, which he listed during the public hearing item. "I recommend the board adopt the proposed policy number 2431.06, name, image, and likeness in athletics, and the proposed amendments to policy number 1120, employment of administrators, policy number 3120, employment of instructional staff, policy number 4120, employment of support staff, and policy numbers 1430.07, 3430.07443," the superintendent said.
Chair Troy Ingersoll called for a motion; the board approved the superintendent's recommendation by voice vote, recorded as carrying 5–0. The consent agenda was also moved and approved later in the meeting with a recorded vote of 5–0. No public speakers addressed the policy changes during the hearing; the board closed the public hearing after a brief opening period for comments.
