The EMA representative (Speaker 9) said the main event is scheduled from 4 to 7 p.m. on the square and that the inner square will be closed the night before to allow crews to set up a stage and staging areas. The EMA official reported planning for an outer-square closure beginning around 2:00 a.m. the day of the event to prepare for a 4:00 p.m. parade and said fireworks were planned as part of the celebration. Organizers expect local businesses to remain open and host activities; a kids' movie will be offered at no charge for children.
"We're having fireworks again," Speaker 9 said, noting concern about setup timing and road closures. The EMA official asked attendees to expect traffic delays and said the agency would coordinate re-opening streets, likely between 8:00 and 8:30 p.m. after the event.
EMA also reported equipment updates: new radios and chargers for animal control and highway staff have arrived and are being programmed; a sought-after generator remains pending. The agency invited the public to attend the Dec. 5 festivities and urged patience around traffic and setup times.
The committee did not take further formal action during the meeting on the event plan; staff will continue coordination with local departments and businesses.
