Seguin ISD’s external auditor presented results of the district’s fiscal‑year audit and told trustees the auditors intend to issue an unmodified (clean) opinion on the district’s financial statements and federal compliance testing.
Stephanie Harris, engagement partner, summarized the audit process and findings and said auditors identified no corrected or uncorrected misstatements and no material weaknesses or significant deficiencies. Key figures presented to the board included approximately $378 million in total assets, a net position of about $28.6 million, and a general fund balance near $35.6 million, representing roughly 45% of annual operating expenditures by the auditor’s calculation.
The auditor noted a net pension liability and an OPEB liability (other post‑employment benefits) and said the district’s change in net position for the year was a positive $13.3 million. The presentation also flagged the district’s issuance of roughly $44.2 million in 2025 bonds and noted that the federal single‑audit supplement from the federal government is delayed; TEA extended the district’s filing deadline while waiting for that guidance.
Board members asked questions about single‑audit timing and state thresholds for single audits; auditors replied that the district’s testing covered the special education cluster and Title IV programs and that, pending federal guidance, management prepared the statements and cooperated fully.
The board received the audit as an information item and had no action required at that time.
