School board upholds superintendent on student appeal, upholds hearing officer in personnel case; reconvenes closed session for superintendent search

Earlier and later in the meeting, the board authorized closed sessions under Code of Virginia §2.2‑3711 for personnel matters (including the evaluation of specific employees and the process of hiring a superintendent), student disciplinary matters, and legal consultation. The board approved remote participation for outside counsel Nikki Chook and Whitney Nelson Crawford to join the closed-session discussion. After the final closed session to continue the superintendent search, the board certified in open session that only items cited in the motion were discussed and then adjourned.
