The Duluth Public Schools board on Nov. 18 carried several resolutions by voice vote related to district financing and resource development.
Finance and HR reports led into a resolution authorizing execution and delivery of an amendment to an installment purchase contract and approving the issuance and sale of $9,080,000 in certificates of participation (series 2025B) to support district projects, including the 1st Street building. The resolution passed without recorded roll-call tallies.
The board also approved a resolution to accept donations to Duluth Public Schools and a separate resolution accepting grant awards to support district programs, including a contribution enabling Duluth HOSA (future health care professionals) to participate in events. In addition, the board authorized closing a previously negotiated purchase agreement for a parcel identified in the packet and empowered the board chair to sign close documents on behalf of the district.
Each of those resolutions carried by voice vote; board materials reference Minnesota Statute 465.03 as the statutory basis for accepting donations and grants by formal board resolution. The board encouraged community review of donation lists and noted the district’s appreciation for community support.
