Council swears in two firefighter-paramedics and recognizes retired police lieutenant

The Two Rivers City Council opened its Nov. 17 meeting by swearing in two firefighter-paramedics and reading a retirement proclamation for a longtime police lieutenant.
Fire Chief introduced Nathan Secora and Hunter Decker as new firefighter-paramedics who completed recruit training. Chief highlighted Secora’s training in fire medicine and nursing and noted his prior experience as a flight medic; Secora took the oath and was congratulated by council. Hunter Decker, also with fire-medical training and prior U.S. Army service, was similarly recognized.
Later in the meeting the council read a proclamation honoring Police Lieutenant Karen Nelson Peter, who retired on Nov. 15 after 32 years of service. The proclamation noted Peter’s history as a drug-recognition expert and instructor, school-liaison work, mounted-patrol history, therapy-dog service and multiple recognitions for police work.
In the city manager’s report staff also announced that Rush Logistics has opened a new facility in the Woodland Industrial Park with a ribbon-cutting planned, and that recruitment is open for a tourism director — a position funded entirely by room tax dollars.
