Board approves contract documents and hearing date for demolition of Old Law Enforcement Center

The Woodbury County Board of Supervisors approved the form of contract, plans and specifications for demolition of the county’s Old Law Enforcement Center and set a public hearing for Dec. 2, 2025 at 4:40 p.m. to allow public input prior to bidding.
Kenny Schmitz, building services director, said the approved documents will be the basis for a chapter 26 competitive bidding process. Jerry Glade of CMBA Architects summarized prior work on the site, including asbestos remediation and coordination with the city on utilities and street closures for the demolition and related 8th Street reconstruction. "There's no implosion... it's basically knocking it down chunk by chunk," Glade said when asked about demolition methods.
The board approved the contract documents and the public-notice schedule and expects to open bids seven days after the public hearing, then return to the board for contract award depending on bid results.
