The owners explained they have been in the community nearly 10 years and described permitting and FDOT-related costs tied to Stewart Street. "We are asking for the full 10,000," the owner said. Councilmembers praised the owners' investment and work—one member said he was "100% behind approving this"—and a motion to approve the grant was made and seconded. Council attorney/staff noted that a final vote would need to occur at a regular meeting; Speaker 14 said the council could not vote that night and suggested placing the item on the Dec. 9 consent agenda.

Council indicated the item will likely appear on the consent agenda on Dec. 9; staff and owners said they are ready to begin work within two to three weeks of approval. No final grant disbursement or contract award was voted on during the work session.
