The city manager recommended canceling the regular commission meetings scheduled for Nov. 27 and Dec. 25; commissioners approved the cancellations by motion. The manager also proposed two additional staff appreciation days—Friday, Dec. 26 and Friday, Jan. 2—which the commission approved by motion.
Separately, the manager distributed a memo from Daniel Perez, speaker of the Florida House of Representatives, and reported that several bills filed during the pre-session could change homestead or property-tax treatment. Using early estimates, staff advised the commission that if the bills progress through the House and Senate, reach the governor and are approved by voters, the city could face approximately $14,400,000 in lost revenue, which the manager said would equal roughly 20–25% of the general fund. The manager said staff will continue monitoring the proposals and refine estimates and potential replacement scenarios.
