The Winter Garden City Commission approved several procurement and event requests affecting city infrastructure and downtown programming.
Staff recommended and the commission approved a purchase order with BrightView for Marsh Road landscaping and irrigation work at a total cost of $222,785.88 (contract $195,195.81 plus $27,590.07 for supplemental tree watering). Separately, the commission approved a $241,381.80 purchase order to TD Thompson for stormwater improvements related to Roper Drive, including two structures and piping to Bradford Park to relieve hydraulic pressure on an existing 72-inch trunk line.
Staff also briefed the commission on damage to the Palmetto Water Treatment Plant from a lightning strike and the need to repair software and communications systems; staff noted invoices were being submitted to insurance and that a previously approved amount of $123,515.69 had been reflected in earlier approvals. The commission also approved renewal of CrowdStrike Falcon Complete licensing at a cost of $109,999.99, which staff said is included in the current fiscal budget.
On special events, the commission approved the Small Business Saturday downtown event scheduled for Nov. 29, 2025, authorized the Bloom and Grow Garden Society's Spring Fever in the Garden festival for April 11–12, 2026 and waived the $1,000 application fee, and approved a Jabbatah Winter Garden Hanukkah celebration for Dec. 14 and associated fee waivers.
All procurement and event motions carried unanimously.
